STUDENT WORSHIP PROJECT

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS  (FAQ’s)

Q: What is the Student Worship Project?

A: This is a free and volunteer based ministry at Christ Wesleyan Church. It’s a gathering of youth under adult supervision as a time to learn how to play in a worship band. We do not necessarily promise to teach you how to play your instrument. That’s up to you. We’ll help coach you on instrumental techniques, but the bulk of your instrument practice needs to be done elsewhere. What we DO promise to work with you on is to help teach What worship is, what worship is not, how to play in a band setting, how to communicate with your AV team, how to be effective in practicing worship music, how to build a good worship set list, etc.

Q: Do I need to bring my own instrument?

A:  Yes. If you’re a vocalist, then you will be using microphones owned by the church, but we do not have extra instruments to lend out. You are responsible for having your gear in place, in tune, and ready. We suggest you own your own equipment instead of borrowing from a friend. This helps avoid problems with damage and loss that can become legal issues if it’s expensive equipment we’re talking about. It also helps us to know you’re committed to this program if you’ve made an investment in your own instrument.

Q: When do we practice?

A:  Check the SCHEDULES page of the CWC Worship band website (www.consumedworship.wordpress.com

Q: What is the set list for this week?

A:  Check the SET LIST page of the CWC Worship band website (www.consumedworship.wordpress.com

Q: Who is in charge of the SWP?

A:  Andria Reich (andriaenator@gmail.com) is heading this up. Joshua Reich (consumed.worship@hotmail.com) helps and backs up Andria. Pastor Mark Tolan (pastormark@triadbiz.rr.com) can also help answer some questions if need be.

Q: When do we perform?

A:  Andria Reich schedules the SWP to practice and perform. Check out the schedule on the SCHEDULES page of the CWC Worship band website (www.consumedworship.wordpress.com). Currently (March 2008) Andria schedules 2 practices per month for SWP and one performance. This is subject to change.

Q: When do we get to move up to the adult band?

A:  Andria Reich is currently in charge of the SWP (Student Worship Project) and the Adult Band (Consumed) at Christ Wesleyan. She confers with the Youth Pastor (Mark Tolan) to make these decisions. These decisions are based on age, leadership qualities, ministry commitment, and YES…your level of talent. Andria and  Mark are trying to keep a balance among all the worship band ministries so that the SWP function is to teach and train up and the adult band can function fully without too many people on stage and without hurting the level of excellence by incorporating people that are not ready for this level of ministry. In short…don’t get your feelings hurt if you’re not asked to join the adult band instantly, but please do express your desire to move up when you feel it’s time. Remember to coordinate your schedule and pray about any changes like this.
